The 'letter chains' below each answer questions raised at the beginning of this century concerning the legitimacy of the Piprahwa discovery. The first demonstrates that Dr A.A. Führer's involvement was restricted to a brief correspondence with W.C. Peppé and a single visit to the site weeks after the discovery was made. The second refutes an internet conspiracy theory which suggested the discovery was staged by British Imperialist powers to court the King of Siam. Letters show that it was a Siamese monk who came up with the idea of donating the relics to Siam and that his suggestion worked its way up the British Civil Service chain of command. Indeed, Euro-centric history seems to largely ignore the Prince Priest's contribution in this regard.
